Your own flash menu using Scaleform.

You will need Adobe Flash 5.0 or 5.5 full version or the 30 day trial to continue this tutorial. Before we can go any further, download and install Adobe Flash 5.0 - 5.5. In this tutorial I am going to show you how to install Scaleform so we can create the Main Menu left below in another tutorial. For now, lets try and keep this as basic as possible.

STEP ONE

We are going to use Adobe CS5.5 for this demonstration but Adobe flash 5.0 should be sufficient also.

This tutorial was tested on UDK-2013-07 & UDK-2012-05 but should work on other versions.

Don't have Adobe CS5.5? or even CS6? click here to download it (30 day trial) Or try these links for 5.5 only:

If you have Scaleform already installed and just want to build the menu left click here.

If you do not have Scaleform installed in Flash 5.0  -5.5 and don't know how then you have come to the right place.

STEP TWO

Start CS5.5 (This was used in this demo)

[ 1 ] Go to the menu at the top and click on "Help"

Click on "Manage Extensions..."

[ 2 ] ADOBE EXTENSION MANAGER CS5 will open.

Click on "File"

Click on "Install Extension"

[ 3 ] A window will open so you can explore the files on your PC

Locate the below directory:

C:\UDK\UDK-2014-05\Binaries\GFx\CLIK Tools

(Above directory is only an example only.)

In the folder "CLIK Tooks" is a file called:

Scaleform Extensions.mxp

Click on this file and click "Open"

-------------------------------

"Read" the Extension Disclaimer Agreement and License then click "Accept"
 ------------------------------
It should say it has successfully installed. (This installs UDK commands into Flash)

Close ADOBE EXTENSION MANAGER CS5

Close FlashCS5 and Restart it.

And that's it. Any action script you add into flash for UDK will be recognised.
